The Saratoga Battle was on September 19, 1777. It took place at New York State on the West side of the Hudson River, North of Albany. The people who fought in the war was the British, Germans, Canadians, Indians, and American loyalist against the American Colonists. Major-General John Burgoyne commanded the British Army, Major-General Horatio Gates commanded the American Army. Horatio Gates’ subordinate was Major-General Benedict  Arnold. The British Army numbered around 6,000 men, while the American Army numbered around 14,000 men.
